The Center for Professional Studies (CPS) within the Division of Innovation and Applied Research at Towson University is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. The Assistant Director will provide assistance and support to the Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute for program development, marketing, membership, financial management, and support for Osher Volunteers.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement social and educational programs, lectures and special events beyond the main semester programs; provide assistance with curriculum development, catalog preparation, and daily classroom operation of spring and fall semesters; manage Osher membership records and all communication with members; develop strategies for membership retention and attracting new members; oversight of Osher website and content updates; establish and maintain social media campaign; public relations including speaking engagements to promote Osher to various groups; represent Osher in the Towson University and surrounding community; provide assistance with budget development, preparation of financial reports and general monitoring of income and expenditures; provide assistance to Office Manager with accounts payable and receivable and management of spreadsheets if necessary; attend Coordinating Council meetings and assist with policy changes as communicated by the Osher Director; serve as official member of all standing committees; and assist with enlisting volunteers for committees and for service at various events.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years of experience required. The selected candidate must have a strong academic background/foundation for developing a rich and diverse curriculum/programs; excellent interpersonal skills; solid computer proficiency with Excel, Microsoft Word, and Internet with the ability and willingness to learn others as needed; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to develop and implement marketing strategies; ability to work with a diverse senior population with sensitivity to special needs of older adults; and strong commitment to lifelong learning and advocacy for older adults. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary
Competitive salary and an annually renewable contract with subsidized benefits. The position is contingent on funds being available at the time of hire.
