Towson University is accepting applications for two full-time positions in the University Police Department's Emergency Communications Center. The Police Communications Operator performs a variety of highly technical clerical work in the Communications Center. This position operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. This position is classified as Essential personnel, and candidates will be required to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities
Answers emergency and non-emergency telephone lines and police radio; dispatches via radio appropriate responders to incidents occurring on and near the University campus; records telephone and radio call information, as well as signals from automated alarm systems; assigns each call or signal a disposition code; receives, solicits, evaluates and records information and requests for police, fire, emergency medical, building maintenance, and other requests regarding the reporting of criminal offenses, accidents, suspicious persons, and other issues; monitors computerized alarm systems and determines appropriate response; and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of clerical or related experience, such as dispatching or emergency communications. Basic computer skills and experience working with windows based communications systems, CCTV & Alarm systems. A Criminal Background Investigation including a polygraph and psychological evaluation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary
$32,437 annually with full University benefits to include annual leave, up to 14 holidays, personal and sick days; tuition remission; and excellent health, life, and retirement plan. This position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire.
